Hi, I'm Lindis!

I help individuals, couples, teens and children work through their challenges, set goals, and get the encouragement and support they need to live a happier, more fulfilled life.

I am a Norwegian-American who moved to Norway permanently in 2002. I serve as a life coach and therapist to the english-speaking community of Stavanger.

I believe that most problems can be solved via improved communication and understanding, and that every one in the home is a contributor to the solution.  It’s amazing how much power we have to impact our world (and those around us)!

You are the expert on your life. My focus is on you and what you want to achieve.  I am only here to guide you and support you to achieve the goals that you have!

Therapist & Certified Life Coach

I am a bit different than your average psychologist or family therapist. I tend to be solution-oriented.  Naturally it is important to pinpoint and analyze the obstacles in your life and the patterns that get in the way of your success, but I also like to focus on where you want to go.  What is the goal with therapy?  What do you want to achieve?  I figure that if you are taking the time out of your busy schedule to meet with me (and pay me), that you will want to see results in your life.  Whether it be that you start feeling better in general, more secure and confident, or that your relationships are blossoming.

Whatever it is that you want to acheive through therapy and coaching with me, I am here to help you.  I believe that each one of us has more power than we realize to make positive changes in our life and impact those around us.

I studied psychology at California State Long Beach and Champman University in California.  I am currently in a Master’s Program at VID University in Sandnes for Family Therapy.  In 2010, I became a Certified Professional Life Coach from International Coaching Academy in Canada (accredited by the International Coaching Confederation).

On a personal note, I am married to Øyvind Jaatun and together we have an army of children from ages 9 to 21, that includes three biological children, one step daughter, two foster sons. I especially enjoy working with teens and young adults that need guidance in finding their own inner drive and motivation to take more responsibility for their path ahead (so mom and dad can stop nagging them).  🙂

I have lived a long life and have had many experiences that helps me to relate to the people I meet in the therapy session.  I have been divorced and remarried.  I was a single mother battling it out alone for four years, and I have now formed a modern family of “mine, yours and their’s.”  I love living in Norway and I love helping people create more satisfying lives.  I look forward to getting to know you.

Looking for more intimacy and connection as a couple? Want to build a better future for you and your family?

In every relationship, there are definitive ups and downs.  It’s important that if you are in a “down” period for more than a few months, that you take action to turn things around.  Sometimes it just takes a session or two with a therapist to get new inspiration and motivation to get on the same page and achieve greater intimacy and connection.  Having a loving and caring relationship that brings you joy in your life is not optional.  It should be the norm.

Due to my background as a therapist, and a certified professional life coach I take a different approach to couples therapy.  Instead of spending many weeks on drudging up all the problems, I try to get the couple to talk about and envision what they want their couple life to look like. More quality time? More laughter?  More hugs and kisses?  Often both parties want the same thing — they just need a little help to communicate that in a nice way that hits home. 🙂

So that’s where I come in.  I help you two to create a vision of the life you both want, and a gameplan to get you there.  Sure we’ll talk about some of the troubling elements and address those challenges, but we won’t stay buried in the mud.  We want to get to the next best chapter in the relationship if that is what both of you are hoping for.
